Howard Wolowitz
Howard Joel Wolowitz is faculty at Caltech's Department of Applied Physics who often hangs out at Leonard and Sheldon's apartment. Among the main male characters in the show, Howard is distinguished for lacking a doctoral degree, for still living with his mother, and for believing himself to be a "ladies' man".
Howard is noted for living with his overbearing Jewish mother.

Howard's relationship with Bernadette is easily his most significant romantic relationship. Howard was introduced to Bernadette by Penny after he initiated the a pact with Leonard in “The Creepy Candy Coating Corollary”. In “The Herb Garden Germination“, Howard proposed to Bernadette and she accepts.

Rajesh Ramayan "Raj" Koothrappali, Ph.D
Rajesh is Howard Wolowitz's (Simon Helberg) best friend. Rajesh is orginally from New Delhi, India, but lives now in Pasedena, California. He works as an astrophysicist in the Physics Department at Caltech. His principal characteristic is a case of selective mutism which doesn't allow him to talk to beuatiful women outside of his family. He can speak to women if he is drunk.
Raj likes Sex and the City, Grey's Anatomy, The Good Wife and Bridget Jones' Diary. Despite both being ostensibly heterosexual, Raj and Howard often act like they are in a homosexual relationship. Rajesh has not have many relationships during the show. In season 4 he had a crush on Bernadette. In the season 4 finale Penny and Raj spend the night together.
Rajesh is portrayed by Kunal Nayyar.
